This past week, I had the opportunity to photograph my nephew’s engagement session while out in Utah. It almost feels surreal that my little nephew is getting married. For some reason it feels like time has stopped while I’ve been living in Minnesota, but reality kicks in every time I return and see that everyone is growing up without me. I’m so excited for JD and Sarah’s wedding in February. Stay tuned for Sarah’s amazing bridal session, cannot wait to share.

This past weekend I attended an Ugly Christmas Sweater party and met a whole bunch on great new people. I was invited to this party as I photographed Joe and Jenny’s wedding and shortly thereafter became great friends. Anyway, I have been crazy excited ever since I was invited to this party a couple weeks ago. Premise of the party….wear an ugly sweater. My gem of a sweater included shoulder pads, overly tight halter top, with 3D snowmen. All the sweaters were just as great. I am introducing a photo booth into my packages in the near future (more on that in a future blog post). Anyway, I decided to do a practice run with my lighting setup for this party. The booth went off without a hitch and was a blast. Thanks Adam for the stellar party!!!

I even decided to get a few photos of myself.

The other day my wife (Emily) came home from an interview. It was late afternoon and beautiful light was sneaking through the window. I don’t know if anyone else does this, but I constantly am looking at looking at light. I love watching to see how the light falls across a person’s face on the street or how light comes in through a window and bounces off a piece of paper sitting on a table. Light is just amazing. Sounds weird, right?
As usual, when Emily comes home, she hops on the couch and Zoe tags along and begs to be on her lap. It’s almost a ritual for Zoe, she must be on someone’s lap at least 95% of the day or she goes nuts. She is a ball of love and her cute face is pretty much impossible to resist. (Side note, I’m at my computer right now and Zoe is on my lap watching me blog.) I couldn’t help but snap this quick photo of my Hot Wife and my Dog! The photo below certainly captures a few of my favorite things…Emily, Zoe, and Light! Everything about these photo makes me happy.
I snapped these photos with my new D700 and am quite pleased with the results.

The Hurley family is darn near one of best families out there. This session was incredibly fun. We met the Hurley family when we moved here over 3 1/2 years ago and when they asked me to photograph their family, I jumped at the opportunity. They have been dear friends ever since. The Hurleys are not your typical family…they are more than that. They love to have fun and make people laugh…they are entertainers (Literally)!! The Hurleys run the very successful and sought after entertainment business A Touch of Magic . If you looking for some great entertainment (Clowns, Hypnotists, Balloon Artists) for kids, events, etc., I suggest you check them out!
Their session was shot just a few weeks ago before the weather turned. We had great light and great fun. Enjoy!
