Scott & Emily

I met Emily and Scott a few months ago to discuss their wedding photography. At that time, they wanted to wait for the weather to warm up to take their engagement photos. Since the last couple weeks have been decent weather, we decided that yesterday should be relatively warm. In fact, when I left the house for the shoot, it was sunny and about 20F outside, there was about 5-6 inches of freshly fallen snow. I thought the conditions would be perfect for the shoot, but little did I know that the wind would be a major factor. We shot the pictures at the site where Scott & Emily were engaged. It was a great shoot and a lot of fun, but it was wow the wind was chilly.

Viva Las Vegas

This past week, I had the amazing opportunity of attending the WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) in Las Vegas. Now this was not my first time to go to one of these conferences. I used to go with my father all the time as a kid and was always bored to death. So this year was my first time since I cared. My dad and mom met up with me in Vegas. It was great to see them and it was a whole new experience for me and my dad together. We had a great time together. I was like a kid in a candy store. There were amazing speakers…aka superstars of wedding photography such as Yervant, Jerry Ghionis, Bambi Cantrell, Joe Buissink, and many others. These are some of the best and most sought after photographers in the world. I learned so much from the lectures I attended. My three days in Vegas went too fast! Then there was the trade show which had virtually anything related to photography. It was huge, it filled to large convention rooms, each the size of a Costco or bigger. It was fantastic. I realize you can never learn too much about improving your photography. One of my favorite photographers…Jerry Ghionis said this during his lecture, “You don’t have to be the best photographer, you just have to be better than you were last week.” This could not be more true and something I plan on doing each week. Here are just a few pics I took in Vegas.

Here is the view from my room.

Joe Buissink

Bambi Cantrell
Jerry Ghionis…my all-time favorite photographer. I always enjoy his work, it was great to hear him speak and even talk to him one-on-one for about 5 minutes. Seriously check out his work, you won’t believe it.

In Vegas . . . for WPPI

I will be slow to respond to email and voicemail until Thursday because I am in Las Vegas for a wedding photography convention. I am looking forward to new ideas and inspiration at this year’s WPPI.

Reagan – One Month

As promised, here are some of my favorite shots from Reagan’s one month shoot. He was a trooper. It was wonderful to see the joy this baby has brought to their family.
