Meet John!

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I specialize in Wedding & Portrait photography. My photography seeks to express emotion. I wake up each day and adhere to a strict diet of eating, drinking, and sleeping photography. I love nothing more than to capture two people in love. My camera allows me to captures moments that may go otherwise unnoticed. I’m not your “stand there while I count 1,2,3…Cheese” type of photographer. My past clients would tell you it’s likely you will see me shooting from trees, hanging off boat docks, laying on my stomach in sub-zero temperature, or standing over the edge of a bridge. I do whatever it takes to “get the shot”. I love shooting people and can honestly say “I’m livin’ the dream”.

I live with my amazing wife Emily, my daughter Eliza, and my sweet dog Zoe. When I'm not carrying my camera around, I enjoy cycling, rollerblading, and listening to live music. Trying out unique food (Thai, Indian, Turkish, Russian, etc.) makes me happy!

Minneapolis Wedding Photographer – Northfield Mn Wedding – Dan & Loretta

Dan and Loretta booked their wedding with me nearly a year ago and were my first booking of 2009. I cannot believe how time flies. I had been looking forward to photographing them for a long time. D+L were absolutely a delight to work with…it just felt like working with friends. I have been so fortunate this year to such awesome clients.

There is something very special between D+L, I saw this instantly at their engagement session. There is something quite noticeable about the way that Dan looks at Loretta and vice versa. The day was full of emotion and happiness and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it. Thanks D+L for letting me capture your day!!!

The Wedding and Reception were in Northfield, Minnesota. It was my first time there and I absolutely loved the rural charm.

While getting ready, Loretta received a gift from Dan…below was her reaction.

Minneapolis Wedding Photographer – Elm Creek Chalet Wedding – Hans & Megan

I absolutely loved this wedding. It rained all day, but that didn’t stop Megan from having the outdoor ceremony she had always wanted. We lucked out and the weather remained perfect for the entire ceremony. This couple was absolutely wonderful to work with. The wedding went so smoothly and was such a pleasure to photograph. I’m so lucky to work with such great people. Thanks Hans and Megan for the amazing privilege of capturing your wedding! BTW, remember their engagement session…take a peek at how cute they were (are)

Favorite Shot of the Day

There is something special about the way a groom looks at his bride for the first time. The image above and below were captured within seconds of each other. I love the way they are looking at each other.

Hans and Megan suggested that since they were new to the whole kissing idea, that they needed some tips for kissing. Every time the clinking of the glasses would begin, H+M would call on a couple at the reception to show them how to kiss. (See next 2 photos)

Minneapolis Wedding Photographer – Moundsview Community Center – Matt & Melissa

Allow me to introduce one of my nicest couples…Matt & Melissa. You may remember them from their St Paul engagement session…it was their shoot when I got mooned by a bunch of guys. Good times and a good laugh!!! Although there was no mooning that took place, we did have a lady drive up to us in her car while I was photographing the bride and groom and ask if we needed a pastor for the wedding. I may be going out on a limb here, but I would expect that most, if not all, couples would have this little detail figured out before the wedding day.
