Meet John!

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I specialize in Wedding & Portrait photography. My photography seeks to express emotion. I wake up each day and adhere to a strict diet of eating, drinking, and sleeping photography. I love nothing more than to capture two people in love. My camera allows me to captures moments that may go otherwise unnoticed. I’m not your “stand there while I count 1,2,3…Cheese” type of photographer. My past clients would tell you it’s likely you will see me shooting from trees, hanging off boat docks, laying on my stomach in sub-zero temperature, or standing over the edge of a bridge. I do whatever it takes to “get the shot”. I love shooting people and can honestly say “I’m livin’ the dream”.

I live with my amazing wife Emily, my daughter Eliza, and my sweet dog Zoe. When I'm not carrying my camera around, I enjoy cycling, rollerblading, and listening to live music. Trying out unique food (Thai, Indian, Turkish, Russian, etc.) makes me happy!

Erin & Paul – Engagement Session – Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

First off, I want to thank Google for this session. Erin and Paul and I met as a result of Google fate (I need to copyright this term). E+P found me through some random Google searching. E+P wanted to do an engagement session in Duluth, MN. I jumped at the opportunity, in fact Emily and I made a weekend out of it (more about that later). The light was gorgeous and so was the weather. I must apologize to Paul as I called him ‘Brad’ for the first half hour of the session. Paul was so nice that he waited about a half hour to correct me. Even after correcting me, I kept slipping and calling him Brad for some reason. I must be getting old. I’m really looking forward to E+P’s wedding next year.

Mike & Laurel – Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

Meet Laurel and meet Mike (you may remember them from their engagement session)…this cute couple were a pleasure to work with. Laurel had everything precisely planned out. She paid careful attention to details and planning. She was the perfect DIY bride. She made the flowers and just about everything else. It was evident that she made sure everything matched. I love working with bride’s that pay such careful attention. M+L…I had a wonderful time working with you two. Despite the somewhat cranky church ladies, I think the day was perfect. Congrats again and thank you for letting me photograph your special day!

Minnesota State Fair

One of our favorite traditions, since moving to Minnesota a few years ago, is attending the state fair. This state fair is like none other. It is one of the biggest and busiest fairs in the nation. It seems everyone goes and the main attraction is always the food. Everything deep fried or on a stick can be found here. It’s a grand time! This year Em and I compacted our fair excursion into about two and a half hours. We ate the entire time. Our meal consisted of the following:

- Wild Rice Burger (this was to die for and I’m already craving it for next year)
- Fried Cheese curds (this is a staple fair food)
- Nitro Ice Cream
- Fried Green Tomatoes
- Martha’s Chocolate Chip Cookies (ate enough for a small army)
- All you can drink milk

Can’t wait to go again next year!
