Meet John!
Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I specialize in Wedding & Portrait photography. My photography seeks to express emotion. I wake up each day and adhere to a strict diet of eating, drinking, and sleeping photography. I love nothing more than to capture two people in love. My camera allows me to captures moments that may go otherwise unnoticed. I’m not your “stand there while I count 1,2,3…Cheese” type of photographer. My past clients would tell you it’s likely you will see me shooting from trees, hanging off boat docks, laying on my stomach in sub-zero temperature, or standing over the edge of a bridge. I do whatever it takes to “get the shot”. I love shooting people and can honestly say “I’m livin’ the dream”.
I live with my amazing wife Emily, my daughter Eliza, and my sweet dog Zoe. When I'm not carrying my camera around, I enjoy cycling, rollerblading, and listening to live music. Trying out unique food (Thai, Indian, Turkish, Russian, etc.) makes me happy!
As 2009 concluded, I had the opportunity to shoot a bridal session while in Utah over the holidays. You may remember Sarah from her engagement session. With her permission, she allowed me to post these images before the wedding day. Given the cold weather, we were limited with our location options. As luck would have it, our first location did not work out, but our second location turned out to be perfect. I just love the light, the lines, and the modern feel of this shoot. Enjoy!
All I can say is wow…nearly 500 votes were cast this week. Thank for everyone for participating. The competition was fierce and extremely close. The winner of the 16×20 standout giveaway is Casey and Mike!
Wow…2009 has truly been an amazing year. I’m so grateful for all the wonderful clients that I’ve worked with during 2009. I feel so lucky to have been able to capture the wedding day of so many great people. I have tried my best to give my whole heart to capturing your each wedding day this past year. I also want to thank everyone for helping my business flourish. I have received so many referrals from 2009 clients for 2010 weddings…I cannot thank you enough for spreading the word.
In efforts to help give back to my 2009 clients, I am going to be hosting a contest this week to give away a 16×20 inch Standout Print ($180 Value). For those of you wondering, a standout is a thick 3/4” lightweight board finished with a black plastic edge and comes ready to display with hanging holes on the backside. It does not require a frame and they look absolutely amazing!!!
Contest Guidelines 2009 Wedding Clients…all you need to do to win is to go tell all your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, etc to come vote for you!! Use Facebook and Twitter to get those extra votes. Voting will end at 11:59PM on January 10th, and I’ll announce the winner shortly thereafter. You can only vote once per computer, so choose wisely.
My photography seeks to break the norms of traditional photography and looks to capture the emotion between a bride and groom. Not sure that I can pick a “best” shot from each wedding, but I have tried. It definitely was not easy (that’s a good thing). Click any Bride & Groom name and you can view their original wedding blog post. Anyway, here are my favorites from 2009!
