Meet John!

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I specialize in Wedding & Portrait photography. My photography seeks to express emotion. I wake up each day and adhere to a strict diet of eating, drinking, and sleeping photography. I love nothing more than to capture two people in love. My camera allows me to captures moments that may go otherwise unnoticed. I’m not your “stand there while I count 1,2,3…Cheese” type of photographer. My past clients would tell you it’s likely you will see me shooting from trees, hanging off boat docks, laying on my stomach in sub-zero temperature, or standing over the edge of a bridge. I do whatever it takes to “get the shot”. I love shooting people and can honestly say “I’m livin’ the dream”.

I live with my amazing wife Emily, my daughter Eliza, and my sweet dog Zoe. When I'm not carrying my camera around, I enjoy cycling, rollerblading, and listening to live music. Trying out unique food (Thai, Indian, Turkish, Russian, etc.) makes me happy!

Happy Birthday John

30 September 2010 Personal

Hi everyone, it’s Emily! I’ve hijacked John’s blog for the day.

Today is John’s 29th birthday. I can’t believe he only has one more year in his twenties! I could say he is getting old but that would make me old as well so I won’t go that far. John is the most thoughtful, loving person, and I’m lucky to have him as my better half. He loves photography and loves all the people he gets to work with. For those of you who have had your picture taken by him you know he is beyond passionate about what he is doing.

John, I love you. Thank you for all your support and help while I’m trying to survive my first year of residency. Thank you for being patient when I am sleep deprived and post-call. Thank you for making me a better person, a better wife, and a better physician.

I love you MORE!!

Ken, Thanks for the suggestion. That is an amazing lens and I can only imagine the things he could do with it… wish I had an extra $1800 sitting around. I’m sure it won’t be too long til he buys it though!

Psst Emily, John wants a Nikon 35mm f1.4 AF-S lens for Christmas, he thinks he needs the new 70-200mm f2.8 but honestly, he’s amazing with the one he’s got now so I would get him the 35mm f1.4

A few weeks ago, I photographed Jenna and Justin’s wedding. Now for those of you know me, I’m quite a sarcastic guy and love to joke around. While shooting their engagement session, I quickly recognized that Jenna and especially Justin have a similar personalities. This made for a very fun day! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting both families and loved capturing this special day! Jenna’s dress was absolutely stunning and she was the perfect bride! Jenna and Justin and family…thanks for making me feel so appreciated on your wedding day! You both were amazing to work with and I am excited for you to start your Husband and Wife journey together! Best to you Both!

Minneapolis Wedding Photographer – Stonebrooke Golf Course Wedding – Jeremy & Melissa

23 September 2010 Wedding

Jeremy and Melissa were married on a bright sunny day. The weather was perfect for a wedding. After shooting Melissa and Jeremy’s Engagement Session in St Paul, I realized Melissa and Jeremy love to smile and laugh (mostly Melissa). The wedding day was no different, both experienced the wedding day perma-smile. In the evening, during the reception, we stepped away for some photos on the Stonebrooke Golf Course, it was some of the most gorgeous light I have seen all year. Honestly, it was the coveted photographer’s golden light on steroids. The light was so warm and quite honestly it was delicious! Such a wonderful wedding and I’m just grateful to have been a part of it! Jeremy and Melissa…good to you both…I had a blast with you on your wedding day!

These are SO BEAUTIFUL! I also teared up again, just looking at the photos. What a bunch of pretty people! Tom and Lori have four beautiful adult children and should be very proud!

Melissa, you made such a beautiful bride and these photos captured the happiness of that day and the love you two share!

Everyone looks so amazing in these pictures, especially the bride and groom!! John, you did such a wonderful job on all of the pictures!! These pictures were so beautiful and I felt like I was at the wedding again and it almost made me tear up a bit. I am a little sad that I haven’t seen any pictures of me doing my speech from anyone yet, but it’s alright. Congratulations to the both of you!! I’m so happy for you guys:)
