Meet John!

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I specialize in Wedding & Portrait photography. My photography seeks to express emotion. I wake up each day and adhere to a strict diet of eating, drinking, and sleeping photography. I love nothing more than to capture two people in love. My camera allows me to captures moments that may go otherwise unnoticed. I’m not your “stand there while I count 1,2,3…Cheese” type of photographer. My past clients would tell you it’s likely you will see me shooting from trees, hanging off boat docks, laying on my stomach in sub-zero temperature, or standing over the edge of a bridge. I do whatever it takes to “get the shot”. I love shooting people and can honestly say “I’m livin’ the dream”.

I live with my amazing wife Emily, my daughter Eliza, and my sweet dog Zoe. When I'm not carrying my camera around, I enjoy cycling, rollerblading, and listening to live music. Trying out unique food (Thai, Indian, Turkish, Russian, etc.) makes me happy!

Minneapolis Wedding Photographer- Ally & Matt

11 May 2012 Wedding

Having only met Ally and Matt over Skype, I wasn’t sure how they would handle the less than favorable weather conditions. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple to photograph on a cold and rainy wedding day. These two did not let the weather discourage them as they carried perma-smiles throughout the day. I’ll be the first to admit it was cold and I was underdressed for the weather. The rain seemed to hang around most the day, but I think that is what made these photos so much fun!

Both the bride and groom’s families made me feel like part of the family. It was a pleasure to photograph this wedding and I couldn’t be happier for these two newlyweds! Congratulations Ally and Matt!!!!

Beautiful John! I love to see your pictures from the St Paul Temple. I grew up going to church there every Sunday and Wednesday from third grade until I went to BYU and of course just as soon as we move they build a temple on the same lot! I’d love to finally see it someday!

Minneapolis Wedding Photographer–Kiley + Behrang

4 April 2012 Wedding

Good to be back…my 2012 wedding season is now in full swing! Super excited for this year! On St Patrick’s Day, I photographed Kiley and Behrang’s wedding in St Paul. I don’t think any of us (including the Bride and Groom) had any idea how crazy busy things would be. There were hoards of people everywhere! It made for a fun environment and a very memorable wedding day. Kiley and Behrang had originally decided on an August wedding, but rescheduled for March. We were pleasantly surprised the weather was very August-like. Kiley and Behrang’s ceremony and reception were held at 317 on Rice Park. Kiley and Behrang’s wedding had elements of Persian tradition. It was a beautiful ceremony and a pleasure to attend! Congratulations to Kiley and Behrang!!! Without further adieu…here are their photos…

2011–Best of Weddings

This week I have share my favorite engagement session and favorite portrait sessions from 2011. As much as I love shooting those types of sessions, my passion is really photographing weddings. I love the emotion and excitement of the wedding day. I LOVE finding those unexpected moments on during a wedding. I must confess I have the best job in the world!!!
